Ready! Set! Roll!

On June 7th, 20 volunteers helped out at the Spence Farm Foundation Community Garden rolling sod in preparation for tilling and planting the potatoes for our local food pantries, Prairie Central Schools, and Midwest Food Bank. Most of those volunteers were from a local 4-H chapter that Carolynne Saffer, director of Spence Farm Foundation, did a presentation on May 6th. We are delighted in the progress made at the site, located at the Prairie Central Junior High in Forrest, IL. Neither rain (the ground was flooded for a while), wind (there was a tornado warning one day we planned on rolling the sod), or heat (it was scorching for a few days in there) kept us from making progress on the project. Check back here for more information as the project progresses!
