BEEKEEPING FOR SUMMER & FALL
Whether you are already managing hives or are simply interested in learning more about the secret lives of bees, this lively and interesting program “Romancing the Comb: Beekeeping for Summer and Fall” will answer the nagging questions you have and offer practical advice on producing this liquid gold.
Darryl Coates, Illinois Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Biologist, will discuss summer and fall care of bees, including tools, supplies, methods & techniques, insect and disease pest management. He will also direct you to different sources for supplies and people who can help
you establish or maintain a healthy hive. Darryl demonstrates equipment, leads discussions and has a detailed slide show packed with information about beekeeping for the Summer and Fall.
A tour of the hives and prairie at the Spence Farm is also a highlight of the program.
