Join Spence Farm Foundation on June 9th, 2014 at Chef Camp for Foodies where you will experience harvest-to-plate in a very hands-on, meaningful way. Start the day with a discussion about building sustainability, over coffee and a light brunch. Tour the Spence Farm and help with chores. Harvest for our meals, from both the field and forest. Sharpen your culinary skills while working with one of Central Illinois most talented chefs, Manny Martinez, as we cook lunch and dinner together. Test five kinds of sirloin steak and fresh eggs, from local and conventional producers, and compare and contrast the taste, texture, and flavor. Participate in team challenges, break-out sessions on organic production and beekeeping basics, and even enjoy a few moments to relax and unwind. Find out what sustainability means to you. Take-a-ways will include a coveted “Chef Camp” t-shirt, cookbooks, recipes, and a produce basket.
