Tours of the farm are offered to a variety of different groups and on April 4, thirteen visitors came to the school house and enjoyed learning about the Spence Farm Foundation and the history of the Spence Farm from director Carolynne Saffer. Fully two-thirds of the group had attended one-room schoolhouses themselves and had many stories to share. Most had farming in their blood and many recalled the days when horses drew the plows, as described by their parents. They were interested in the way this farm was alike and different from the surrounding conventional farms. After much discussion of history, sharing stories and a short tour, the group departed and Carolynne realized that although she had led the talk, she had certainly learned much from them too!
